Character Impressions Reel

whew the heat is baking us up here ^_^;
I've been working quite a bit though and haven't had as much time as I'd like to be on the computer lol.

I did however get a chance to video tape myself doing some character impressions.
It's posted on youtube only after viewing the finished clips here at work I see how dark the room was I recorded in. Next time I'll sit somewhere with better lighting.

heh! Completely forgot to pack a camera ^^; so I will have to hunt for pics over the next few days. Though OhSNAP! took lots of our group. Anyhow I found some of when we were on stage. (credited to AE forum member Marmbo) I loved every minute of this being in this cosplay...I wonder if they'd want to do it again sometime^^

Today was really long, I was up at 5am to catch the Sea Plane to Vancouver. Evan and I had to be there at 6:30 this morning since he wanted to come along for the day trip.
I had to take my preggy medicine before leaving and it has the worst side effect possible, heavy drowisness ;_; but it helps make me not feel nauseous.
I arrived about 20 minutes early to the studio and I didn't know how long I was going to be there for. Turned out for over 2 hours which was a nice surprise. Some of the sections were really hard to cover with the small walla group so we did a couple recordings for those scenes.
Some walla went on for over a couple minutes where it's just adlibbing and improv. I ran out of things to say so it was hard since you need to pick it up and keep going.

I tried my best for the types of incidental characters I was asked to record for. But I got an email tonight that I am invited to come back on the 25th from the main casting director. Only the Voice Director I met, is concerned about my variance and range. And in the email it was mentioned that he was hesitant about me to come back. :(

However the main casting director said that she's know I can do it since she's heard the kind of voices I have done. But I don't think I have really done anything super crazy/cartoony so it's kind of new to me. I feel that my range is adaquate, I can do boy voices, an assortment of female voices from child to old women. A few accents and the odd Nasaly voice. Not to mention about half a dozen vocal impersonation character type voices.

I want to feel confident but I'm also worried that maybe my range is just restricted to those types of voices. And what if I can't do the kinds of voices they're looking for O_O

I personally don't think it's a bad thing, because some voice actors can only do one or two voices. So I'm greatful to do as much as I can. I've got 10 days to prepare some really wacky voice types.
I guess my perfomance in the next session will decide if they'll keep me around for this series.

I am really happy that the main casting director has such confidence in me and knows how hard I've worked to reach this point. She's been very supportive.
I did record for a named character today!! Which I thought was super!! But looks like I've got a lot of work to do..It just seems so hard at the moment!

I got the wildest news this afternoon in my email inbox. I was contacted by the head Casting Director from Ocean Studios that aside from an Incidental Session that I had been booked to record for next week.
She wants to bring me back for more sessions towards the end of August.
She also mentioned that they have been keeping an eye on my progress and want to give me recurring characters as well ^_^

So I'm advancing, it's taken me one year and without Agency representation too. I never thought this day would come..but it has!! This means my apprenticeship with the Union will be complete possibly by the end of the summer and I will become a full member of the Acting Union. I'm half way through already!!

I thought getting into the industry was hard enough, but my next challenge and adventure is VOing during pregnancy lolz! I've just gotta fight off that morning sickness, I know I can do this!!
I feel nervous all over again but excited to step up and see what's going to happen next!

Whew! I finished it just in time, this was actually the 2nd one I made since I kind of had a few stitching errors the first time around.
I also couldn't afford to go to the fabric store, so I visited the local thrift shop and found a pink bed sheet, 2 burgandy pillow cases, a light pink table cloth and huzzah~! I was able to wing it. (No pattern was used) I'm too impatient for patterns so I usually just guess-timate on everything. I wanted a ridiculously HUGE bow in the front so I stuffed it with cotton ^_^

Also some props and accesories:

I used crochet needles for the hair sticks and painted them gold. My dagger prop has fimo ornaments which were hand shaped. The Momo wannabe is actually a small mouse plushie which I sewed a fluffy tail on to and used some fabric paint to give it a slight makeover.
